Home improvements 2023

At Arlington House, we never rest on our laurels. We are always looking to improve our home and service, and 2023 has seen some major developments which we hope will help us to cement our position as the leading care home in the Warrington area.

Kitchen renovation and refurb

In June 2023 we embarked upon a significant project to completely overhaul our main kitchen area. Of course, we wanted to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure a seamless service for all our residents. So, with this in mind, we installed a large mobile kitchen in our car park – which allowed us to continue to make fresh, nutritious meals daily.

The old kitchen was ripped out in its entirety, the walls were re-plastered, and all electrics/plumbing were upgraded. Old wooden units were replaced by modern, stainless-steel units, and all tiling was replaced by aqua panels.

The new kitchen has more space, better ventilation, and is more hygienic (as all areas are now fully wipeable and accessible). And what does the new kitchen mean for our residents? It means we are in an even better position to serve them delicious and varied meals, plus they have the reassurance of unparalleled cleanliness and hygiene levels.

Digital care plan system

This year we also took the big decision to upgrade our care plan system, from being entirely paper based to a fully automated online/digital system. This upgrade represented a significant sea change for the home, as it would fundamentally change the way we deliver and report on our care processes.

After several weeks of reviewing the software available, we made the decision to purchase our new digital system through Nourish Care. The Nourish system stood-out from the competitors due to its flexibility, innovation, and user-friendly interface.

Once we purchased the Nourish system, we embarked on a period of extensive training with our management team to ensure they understood the system and knew how to navigate around it. The next step was the most time-consuming, as we had to transfer each resident’s paper files onto the digital system. There was no magic work-around for this, our team had to manually input all key details into the new system – which took several hours for each resident.

The Nourish system is now live within the home. All care staff carry a handheld device around with them at all times, which allows them to make regular, timely entries into the system. It also prompts them of all their daily tasks, which means that no resident interaction is ever forgotten or delayed.

We’re proud of the reputation Arlington House holds for its care and compassion. We are hoping our new digital care system will allow us to set the bar even higher when it comes to person-centric, timely and tailored care for each and every resident.
