Decisions! Decisions!

We recently decided to freshen-up some of our bedroom wings and got stumped when it came to choosing the paint colours. To help move things along, we decided to get our residents and their family members involved.

For anyone who has ever done any home improvements, you’ll know how difficult it is to find a colour scheme to suit everyone. We had the same problem and couldn’t nail down our final choice.

So, we came up with an idea. We bought several colour samples and put them on the wall. We then got the residents who lived in those particular bedroom wings to choose and vote for their favourite colour.

The voting process was great fun, as our residents took ownership and pride in choosing the colour scheme for ‘their home’. What’s more, we asked their family members to also vote. After all, they would be passing through the corridors whenever they visited the resident in their bedroom, so it was good to get their buy-in too.

We ended up choosing two very distinctive colours for our two adjoining bedroom wings:

  • The first colour scheme is named Fragrant Peony – which is a soothing lilac colour. The feedback to date from our residents, families and visitors is that it’s very calming and relaxing.
  • The second colour scheme is named Wellbeing – which is a vibrant light green, designed to reinvigorate the senses and give everyone an uplifting feeling.

The renovations to both bedroom wings are now complete and our residents are delighted with the updates. The photos below show how much fun we had in picking the paint colours and when someone is actively involved in making a final decision, they always feel more valued and an integral part of the proceedings.
