We were delighted to welcome Musical Moments for their first event at Arlington House.
Musical Moments is an award-winning company that specialises in events in care home settings which involve music and movement. The event which lasted one hour, was thoroughly enjoyed by all residents as they sang along to a range of songs, while doing a series of activities/exercises at the same time!
Musical Moments are trained to help people with dementia and by using a variety of props to get people’s attention, we saw that most of our residents played some part in the event – which was great to see.
Some of the highlights included, throwing a soft monkey teddy bear around the room while singing the famous tune “Hey hey we’re the Monkeys”, doing the Can-Can dance while sitting down and getting the residents and staff to sing ‘Doh ray me and ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’.
This is the first time that we have held an interactive event on this scale and it certainly won’t be the last. It was great to see so many engaged residents and everyone having fun – this is what it is all about. We will look to do another event with Musical Moments later in 2019 – watch this space!
